Now what?

Yes, I finished my Camino. I have been blessed with having a lot of time for this project am now left with some time to spare before my flight home.

I have been one of the rare ones doing the Camino with time to spare. I wasn't forced to rush it and I was able to take days off, o had the luxury of being able to cut my days shorter without fear that I would run out of time. I can warmly recommend to have more than less time when you leave for a longer Camino.

For me it means I can now spend a bit over week traveling around this corner of the world (Portugal). So even though the Camino is now over, it doesn't mean that I'm going home. It means I continue my travels with something else for a while now.

I have some ideas on where I want to go and what I want to see and experience before going home, but first I'm spending a few days relaxing and resting. And playing the guitar. On the balcony of the hostel. And if course, making new friends.

It's also time to do a little reflection. It's been a long walk and I must say that it feels a bit strange to now have my days empty without a huge destination like I had before.

Now is also time for a little planning so I won't accidentally skip half of the things I want to do.

The first thing I did after arriving to Tomar was getting myself new outfit. One that hasn't travelled with me for hundreds of kilometers. My namesake, Saint Birgitta, did something similar when she arrived to Santiago. I hear she burned all her travel clothes and put on clean new ones.

I'm following her example in the modern way. New pair of jeans and a new shirt. And all the clothes I've had with me into the wash machine. My sleeping bag and other stuff is now spread around the dorm room, I hope to get the damp smell out of them before I pack my things up and head towards the next adventures.
